Hello everyone,

Good idea Champ to get this forum up, I have thought about doing something similar in recent times because it was a good little community we had on Gallus.

Maybe we will have to find a new game that we can commandeer!

I am now 25 and since the Gallus days I have completed my Software Development degree and have since been working as a software developer.

Me and my bro (liquid ice) often reminisce about the Gallus days and still have yet to find a game that has the same level of playability, skill usage and community spirit!

I have a copy of the single player version which I can get up on a link if anyone is interested in playing on their own! I also have the code for the multiplayer, but no server code for it to run with.

I've forwarded the email to a few more people I had emails for..

Wow! I was hoping someone had those files. I bet someone on here knows how to set up the files to work on a new server. Or maybe I could give it a whirl.

Is there any way you could get a site running with any of that stuff, or if you'd like, send it to me and I could see what I can do with them?

ok ive uploaded the single player version:

http://gallus.jmpeip.com/

The usual Gallus rules apply, you must be using the Microsoft JVM and disable JIT compiler.. Im sure you all remember how to do it..

For ease, Ive uploaded the Microsoft JVM here:
http://gallus.jmpeip.com/msjavx86.exe

I'm getting a part gray table, can't see the pockets in the bottom half of the table... any idea why? Maybe cos i'm using Firefox?

Same here. The bottom 5th of the table is grey and each of the balls on the bottom of the screen is greyed out.

I've tried the newest Firefox and the newest Internet Explorer (IE8).

I also installed the JVM that you uploaded, and still the same thing after I disabled JIT.

make sure IE is set up to use the MS JVM and not Sun one.. try an older version of IE maybe?

I think it would have been IE6 at the time, cant remember if firefox was around in those days either..

i'll have a bash when im next on my windows machine and see if i can find anything out.

Here is a website that allows you to download old applications, including all versions of IE: http://www.oldapps.com/internet_explorer.php

If someone wants to and has time to play around with it, you may want to download IE6 and the Microsoft VM that Ultra has linked to see if installing both of those allows us to play. I would, but I am at home on my Linux machine and I'm allowing my girlfriend to borrow my Vista machine for this week.

Ok I can confirm that it definitely works in IE6 running the MS JVM.

In the IE settings under 'Advanced' make sure that in the section 'Java (Sun)' the 'Use JRE for <applet>' is unchecked.

If you have installed the MS JVM correctly there should be a section 'Microsoft VM' - I have all 3 options unticked, but the important one was always to keep 'JIT compiler' off.

The same configuration of java virtual machine, may work in IE7/8 - if anyone has them?
